"Sander Hicks is a national treasure. He is a first-rate writer, investigative journalist, public speaker, organizer, and general all-around trouble-maker."

-Kevin Barrett
from recent Reviews of Slingshot to the Juggernaut

"The truth is often told by weirdos -- people too stupid or obsessive to be bribed into silence. Sander has joined the ranks of the truth-telling Outsiders. Ignore him at your own risk."

In 2013, I started the Capital Cooperative Corporation. We are a company with diverse projects in construction, craft carpentry, indie media, live events, and business coaching.

In the past couple of years, I have been building up a political/spiritual celebration called the Truth Party. In 2012, I talked about the truth and peace questions in a book called  Slingshot to the Juggernaut: Total Resistance to the Death Machine Means Complete Love of the Truth.

I run a contracting and carpentry operation called Zen Carpentry. See our nice loft beds here at

Previously, I founded two interesting social ventures, Vox Pop Inc. and Soft Skull Press.

At Soft Skull Press, I was best known for our attempts to get unpopular truths out about G.W.Bush, through the biography Fortunate Son (Soft Skull, 1999). In 2003, I was in "Horns and Halos" (HBO/Cinemax) the independent publishing documentary that recorded this struggle.

I have reported for Alternet, The New York Megaphone, GNN, Long Island Press, New York Press, The Shadow, and Catholic Worker. I also have a page here about my work as a playwright & previous books I have published are here.

As an editor/publisher here are some of the books I am proudest of:

No More Prisons

Fortunate Son: George W. Bush and the Making of an American President

Saving Private Power: The Hidden History of the "Good War"

LA Times Best-Seller
Nowhere Man: The Final Days of John Lennon

Washington Post Best-Seller
Dance of Days: Two Decades of Punk in the Nation's Capital

Rebel Bookseller: How to Improvise Your Own Indie Store and Beat Back the Chains (Vox Pop)
