"I'm Going Over... the Isaiah Wall!"
a short play
by SH
Bush is squatting over Iraq, trying to take a big shit and squeeze out a bomb onto the Iraqi people.
Bush: NNNNNUUGHHHH.......HHMMMnnnNNNNNUHHHHHH!! I can't get this bomb out! I need to push, breathe, PUSH! My body HATES me!
Isaiah: You're body's not alone, Mr. President.
Bush: WHAT?
Isaiah: The forces of history in time will judge you harshly if you squeeze out this nasty bomb on the people of an ancient holy land.
Bush: Please, shut up and sell me a laxative. Money talks. This bomb will open up my war, wars stir up emotions, emotions whip up a population that votes through impulses, the way I win, I appeal to the rash, the lost, the quick-minded...the hurt and the hateful.
Isaiah: Iraq is one of the cradles of civilization. There are lessons in the ruins of Babylon, of Mesopotamia. The arrogant were laid low; idols of gold and silver thrown in the dust. Your money won't save you when the forces of history are in your face. The forces don't front, they don't talk, they have strong spirit, they do, they fight, they devour the pigs of history.
Bush: MMMMNNNAAHHH!! There! You NUT case! I got it out! It's falling away from me like my passing thoughts! Good Bye Iraq! Eat Shit!
Isaiah: A smirk on your face, while there is blood in my eyes. Down there, the widows and the children see their skin ripped off; they become fountains of blood. You grind down the poor of the world and you say you are a man of God? A man of God doesn't worship his own shit! If you had seen what I've seen, you would know the difference between truth and simple soil.
Bush: Guards! Arrest this man! Jail him without trail. His thoughts are an enemy combatant, execute him at sea!
(I. is seized by guards)
Isaiah: Boy King. You don't surprise me. 3000 years ago, I was first executed, sawed in half with a large tree saw. You don't know me? I am the Prophet Isaiah.
Bush: Whatever, Dude. Those humanitarian methods are so old-fashioned. They will take their time with you, believe me. You're out of here, Partner.
(He waves away the guards and their new prisoner. He goes to stage center for his final remarks to the TV audience watching at home.)
Bush: Americans live on the sunrise side of the mountain. But night is falling. We do know well that our enemies WILL react to what we will do in Iraq. We are ready. They will attack us for it. We will respond in ever greater number, in ever greater force. We can't get them all at once. Can you imagine, a day, when every non-US citizen across the globe, is willing to become a suicide bomber against us, against our interests, and those of our Ally? Get ready America, because that day is coming. Dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier. Gawd Bless you, and Gawd Bless Amerika.
