The London Sunday Times
this week reported that a 20th
hijacker was trained to take part in the 9/11
terror attacks.
The suspected hijacker,
a British citizen, is the first to have been
trained in Pakistan. He is linked to major
Al Qaeda operatives through his home mosque
in Oldham, Northern England. The un-named
man lived near terrorist recruiter Shafiq
ur Rehman, a Pakistani cleric accused of involvement
in the Kashmir conflict.
The British Muslim worked
as a waiter in Manchester when he was recruited
by Al Qaeda. He backed out of the 9/11 plot
while in the US, and confessed it to the FBI
in year 2000. The FBI didn't believe him,
and sent him back to Britain.
The Sunday Times story
was written by reporter Christina Lamb. Lamb
,in 2001, expelled from Pakistan for reporting
the connections between the ISI ,Pakistans
intelegence, and the Taliban.
Earlier this month, Lamb
reported that the Taliban has decided to launch
a publicity campaign. Lifting their ban on
television, the regrouped Taliban issued digital
camcorders to reporters embedded with its
factions at war with the US. Taliban commanders
reported that their new video cameras were
being provided by Pakistan's ISI.
